BREAKING. SABC makes a net profit of R343 million for the financial year 2011/2012; comes at the cost of a further reduction in local TV spend.

The SABC board has officially presented the South African public broadcaster's new annual report for 2011/2012 in parliament, and although the SABC made a net profit of R343 million, it's only once you carefully scritinize the financial results that you see the profit comes because of a further reduction in local programme commissioning and less local content at the hugely troubled public broadcaster.

Since late last night I've been pouring over the SABC's financial statement for 2011/2012 for the year ending 31 March 2012, and I've seen and found several shockers, astronomical salaries for a place such as the SABC mired in management problems and operational upheaval, all of which I'll report on in days to come.
